Why Choose a Citron Crested Cockatoo?

The Citron Crested Cockatoo is a remarkable companion bird for someone prepared for the time, attention, and long-term commitment that cockatoos require.

Beautiful and Distinctive Appearance

Citron Crested Cockatoos are admired for their elegant white feathers and vivid orange or golden-yellow crest. Their expressive personalities and striking appearance make them especially appealing to experienced bird keepers.

Intelligent and Trainable

Cockatoos are highly intelligent parrots that can learn sounds, behaviours, routines, and tricks through patient, reward-based training. Lim enjoys interaction and mental challenges that keep him engaged and active.

Affectionate and Social

Citron Crested Cockatoos can form very strong bonds with their human caregivers. Lim enjoys attention and companionship and can become a wonderful part of a household when his social and behavioural needs are consistently met.

Playful and Interactive

From exploring toys to learning new behaviours and mimicking sounds, Lim enjoys activities that allow him to interact with his environment. Providing appropriate toys, enrichment, and daily attention is an important part of keeping a cockatoo happy and mentally stimulated.

Is Pixie the Right Bird for You?

A Citron Crested Cockatoo is a long-term commitment, so prospective owners should understand the responsibilities involved before bringing one home.

Lim is particularly suited to:

• Experienced parrot owners
• Bird enthusiasts familiar with cockatoo care
• Families able to provide consistent daily interaction
• Owners who have sufficient space for a large, secure cage or aviary
• People looking for a highly interactive, long-term companion bird
• Responsible bird lovers prepared for the financial and time commitment of lifelong parrot care

Because cockatoos are intelligent and social animals, they should not be viewed simply as decorative pets. They need companionship, exercise, enrichment, appropriate nutrition, veterinary care, and a safe environment.

Pixie’s Care and Daily Needs

To help Lim thrive in his new home, his future owner should be prepared to provide a nutritious and varied diet, fresh water, safe toys, regular exercise, and daily social interaction.

His environment should include a large, secure cage or aviary that provides enough room for movement and climbing. Parrot-safe toys and enrichment activities can help prevent boredom and provide opportunities for natural behaviours such as chewing, climbing, exploring, and problem-solving.

Regular veterinary care with an avian veterinarian is also an important part of responsible cockatoo ownership.

Health and Travel Information

Pixie will come with a health certificate, travel cage, and basic care guide to help his new owner prepare for the transition.

Before transportation, prospective owners should confirm the health, identification, documentation, import requirements, and applicable veterinary or quarantine regulations for their destination. International movement of exotic birds can be subject to strict wildlife, veterinary, and customs regulations.
